It’s me!!

 Baking with Loz launched (by accident) in 2018.

It started out as a little Instagram page where I would post pictures of whatever I whipped up in the kitchen that week for my ever-so-eager cousins to drool over. I was astounded and overwhelmed when little by little, more and more people joined the bandwagon and were requesting to try our products. Fast forward to today and we’ve baked for people all across Adelaide! It still humbles me to my core to think about how quickly it all happened.

I’ve been getting my hands dirty in the kitchen from as far back as I can remember. My earliest memory from my junior years was helping mum make a carrot cake. She handed me a peeler and a carrot and let me peel the skin off. 10 minutes later she comes back to find me still peeling the carrot away because I didn’t realise carrot flesh was orange like the skin... but don’t worry, you won’t find me making that mistake today! Stemming from a big, hungry, Italian family, cooking has always been part of my life.

 
 

The knowledge of creating flavour, the skill in selecting ingredients at their prime and the respect we have for the produce we’re provided is something I’ve been taught from my heritage and it translates effortlessly into my baking. Some passed down from the generations before us and some modern and enticing, each of our recipes are tried and tested in-house to ensure our customers are served quality products every time. Food being my passion, I left school and completed a Bachelors Degree in Nutrition and Dietetics and am a qualified Accredited Practicing Dietitian / Nutritionist. Crazy you say? Trust me, I know. Why would a dietitian be a purveyor of cake and all things sweet? The answer - balance. I believe all things in life have a balance, it’s the same with our food. Food feeds both the body and the soul - eating for health nine times out of ten and enjoying that deliciously rich, more-ish cake on your birthday... Doesn’t get much simpler than that!! Being a dietitian comes with its perks as a baker. We’re savvy when it comes to allergy friendly creations and are well up to speed with food safety, special diets and ingredient substitutes. Baking is more than love and good flavour...it’s a science. Until you’ve ruined a cake getting your baking soda mixed up with your baking powder you won’t know what I mean. It’s a fine art, requires delicate precision and insanely skilled technique that I have made it my mission to perfect. I’m working my hardest to create beautiful, mouth watering, memory-making cakes, cupcakes, sweets and desserts that will leave you wanting more. Curious?
